Gergő Szauer will also be there at the Mecsek Rally

He started his racing career more than 10 years ago in a slalom race, won Lada Cups, sprint races, and was victorious in several categories at the MARB. They did not succeed in the 2017 and 2019 Mecsek Rallye, they did not reach the finish line in any of them. So far this year, they have started one race with István Kerék, the Salgó Rally, where they won with a half-minute lead with the Rally4 Peugeot 208.

The Mecsek Rallye and István Jelen have been defining experiences of Gergő Szauer's life since childhood:

"We went to the races with my father, we went to the prologue or to the service park, the unmistakable István Jelen with the huge beard was always there. He walked up and down and was constantly organizing, even then it was clear that there would be no rally without him. Its name is inextricably intertwined with the Mecsek Rally."

Gergő loves not only the rally, but also Mecsek and Pécs:

"My father was born here, I've been here a lot since I was a child, I'm attached to the city and the neighborhood, I've lived in several places, but I feel at home here. Mecsek is my mountain. Pécs is a beautiful Mediterranean city."

Gergő Szauer is really looking forward to the 54th Mecsek Rally, since his last start in 2019 was a success.

"Then I was already eliminated on the first speed, so I miss it a lot, I have no expectations, just that we have fun. We are going to compete, so we strive for the best place, the first place. We don't have a tactic yet, since I haven't seen the tracks yet, one thing is for sure: we want to go through it to the best of our ability. By the way, my favorite of the Mecsek courses is always the one I'm standing at the start of."

The pilot plans to start in the next races as well, but emphasizes: the only thing that is certain is what has happened.
