Away game: deep water, in a foreign discipline (3rd) – the little Yaris GR can grow big in Mecsek

As we already reported in the first two articles of our three-part mini-article series, two excellent track competitors also pay their respects in the field - more precisely in front of them. Norbert Kiss and Gábor Wéber the sports manager of the competition, Tibor Markó approached him with his special idea: what if they tried their hand at a new discipline, tasting the beauties of rallying as well. Another friendship, Gábor Jagadics thanks to and because GR Motorsport was the buyer of the idea, and they can turn the wheel of an angry Toyota Yaris GR.

After our conversation with the two drivers, this time we asked Gábor Jagadics, the owner of GR Motorsport Kft., who is also competing in this year's ORB series with a Ford Fiesta R5 - a little about his own driving, a little about the GR project, which promises to be sensational even by international standards.

"I was able to sit in a racing car for the first time ten years ago as an adult. And I consciously started in the navigator's seat, because I wanted to get to know the sport right away at a competitive pace, but still safely with an experienced pilot. I learned a lot with Balázs Novák in the M3 BMW, I boldly recommend this solution to all beginners in rallying" -avat be pályafutása kezdeteibe Jagadics Gábor.

Mi több, tetszik azóta is. A Mecseken ugyanerre törekszünk, az örömautózás a célunk” – flashed a special competitor's point of view.

And then let's look at the other car, i.e. cars, the two Yaris GRs, which Gábor Jagadics, as the owner of GR Motorsport Kft., made available to the two guest-star drivers, Norbert Kiss and Gábor Wéber - of course, not for competition, but only as control cars. Of course, knowing the power and capabilities of the Yaris GRs, as well as the attitude of Norbi and Gábor, we can still expect spectacular driving from the "trio". But how did he get the idea of these street racing machines?

"I saw them last year at the Italian Yaris Cup and I immediately felt that I wanted to do something with them. After all, they could fill the gap between the already old Mitsubishis and the very expensive R5s, I consider them to be real cup series staples and a great opportunity for the young, talented, up-and-coming generation to progress. We immediately acquired one and began to rebuild it into a real, blood rally car. Completely self-developed, with premium components, not copying anyone, rather showing the world the way. It is almost completely ready, our tests went well; I don't want to shout it out, maybe we will be able to compete at the Mecsek, but this can only become certain at the last moment" - reveals the behind-the-scenes secrets of turning Yaris into racing cars.

However, their two street versions will definitely be here, and as Gábor Jagadics puts it, he is very happy Tibor Markó of his idea, with which he won two well-known drivers from another discipline to the rally. According to him, the sport can move forward and become even more attractive to many thanks to exclusive experiences like this, colorful, interesting things that attract viewers and the media.
