Ferenc Vincze: competition during the day, party at night...

Ferenc Vincze was the absolute Hungarian champion in 2019, and in addition, he obtained the necessary points - at that time with a 3rd place - at the Mecsek Rallye. He also wants to be on top of the podium in Pécs this year.

"That's right, I came third in Pécs, I didn't have to push the gas all the way, because my position was enough for the championship, and that was the most important thing. Then we had a huge celebration with the team. Since I haven't won a race at the Mecse yet, I would like to stay in the night in Pécs for a bit after that..." Ferenc Vincze laughs at his side, which is also able to relax after the tight pace.

"But seriously, looking at this year's race calendar in the winter, I already noted to myself that Mecsek will be the hardest to win of all the races. For me, for sure, because it hasn't worked out yet for some reason, even though I really want to. This year I was second three times, I would like to finish one better. But it won't be an easy race, since finally the total distance of the sprint is more, isn't it, almost 140 km, although half of it will take place on narrow, forest roads", - the former champion looks at the chances in the light of the difficulties.

"The field is not weak either, with the addition of two excellent foreign pairs, and there will even be a newcomer who I think should be reckoned with. The points that can be obtained are particularly valuable, as they must be calculated with a multiplier of 1.2. So, I'll try, even though I don't know if the narrow or the wider tracks favor me. I used to think that my style was more suited to narrow forest tracks, but the expected results didn't come as well. I hope that this will be okay in Mecse", reflects Ferenc Vincze.

"As I mentioned, I haven't had an absolute victory in Pécs yet, but I'm very proud of the fact that I've already won a sprint in Trefort Puszt with the Mitsubishi EVO IX R4, which is now included in the program back and forth. I remember it was muddy, slimy, I really enjoyed it. And the memories of 2019 are still very vivid in me, as we celebrated the championship here. So, I got it, and not from Mecsek, the glass is half full, this year it should finally be full. Then I would be very happy," said this year's returning champion, Ferenc Vincze.
