Róbert Bútor: "We remade the WRC in five months"

"Our car was finished, at the cost of a lot of work: it took five months to fully rebuild. The end result speaks for itself, I practically got a new WRC, which would not necessarily have been the goal after the breakdown, but in the end there was no other solution than to make the used car beautiful" - sums up the story of the renovation of the crashed WRC detailed below in one sentence as an introduction Róbert Bútor

"The repair process turned out to be painful in every way. I knew that it would cost a lot to someone who gets into a car like this and crashes it, but I didn't think that it would be me, because this has rarely happened in my career so far, and even then the problem was usually only minor. Well, that wasn't small! Since then, we have passed the usual annual test, which was held in Cered and was very positive. On the one hand, because a lot of spectators were waiting for us, and it was a very good feeling for the whole team. On the other hand, the car worked perfectly, which is also a very good thing, since it was practically disassembled down to the last bolt on an empty tank, and my two colleagues, Laci Várta and Attila Harcsa rebuilt it. The fact that it works flawlessly on the first test after such a large amount of work is a huge achievement for them as well. It turned out that they did a perfect job," concludes the pilot with joy when presenting the project.

"During the first 15-20 kilometers, I didn't manage to go without thinking that it wouldn't happen again, especially not in two tests in a row. If we want to be very honest, at this speed it is present at every moment, such an accident can happen in a fraction of a second. Especially by going 180 on the closed public road between the tape barriers. This is not a car ride. Then after about 20-25 kilometers I started to forget these feelings, I dared to go more and more bravely and faster, and even around the 40th kilometer I started to fall over to the other side of the horse, so I had to calm myself down and take it back from the pace, but by then I was really enjoying it. . I'm trying to erase the bad memory and I'm trying to be very collected and focused so that this doesn't happen again in the next 20 years," Róbert Bútor also introduces the process of spiritual renewal necessary after the accident.

Finally, now actually looking ahead to the Pécs race: "I'm really looking forward to the Mecsek, since the last time I sat in the car under racing conditions was last August, at the ZEG Rally, that is, almost a year ago. Since then, we have been constantly improving and spending on it, so it is time for the car to give back a little, and the Mecsek Rally is the perfect opportunity for that. I really like this race, that's why I chose it as the first race for this year, and last year I also chose it to introduce the WRC. I like the courses, the atmosphere, I like the event itself, this competition can only be good. I would like to go fast and flawlessly, and at the end reach the finish line and come home happy. Then the vacation can come!”
