Ádám Velenczei will become a father just in time for the Mecsek Rallye
Ádám Velenczei comes to the Mecsek Rallye as the absolute winner of the last Hungarian championship race. They achieved success with Zsolt Vánsza in May, but Ádám, who had won a race before, soberly evaluated the victory.
"However, it must be seen, it is not certain that it would have turned out this way in Vác and its surroundings if Ostberg had started as well. In his absence, there was an opportunity to achieve a better result, which we managed to achieve against Vincze Feri. These very fast courses were for me, I tried to take on everything for the sake of success," the two-time absolute race winner looked back on the previous victory.
"The Mecsek Rally is different. The program was once again made up of extremely technical, real rally tracks. I would like to prepare thoroughly for this very reason, but I will have a little extra time during the track inspection. My wife is scheduled for the Thursday before the competition, in principle our child will be born on that day. I will definitely be there with him, I think it would be a sin to miss more beautiful moments," Ádám Velenczei shares the good news with us.
"Returning to the race, you have to pay close attention, because in addition to the high pace and technical corners, there are also risks of punctures. Especially towards Pécsvárad. Anyway, I like that course, even from Máré-vára I managed to run an absolute time on it. I would like to produce something similar again. But it won't be easy! We are doing well in the league, we are at the beginning, but there will be another 4-5 hard races with the Mecsek. I would like to achieve at least podium places, and then we will see what will be enough. And let's face it, it's quite difficult to get by in this economic situation right now, which is why we have to take advantage of every opportunity when we can start," says Ádám honestly.
"I am very satisfied with the team, the Topp-Cars Rally Team is doing a great job, the car is fine. The harmony with Zsolt Vánsza is also good in the car. We are in almost daily contact in our private lives, which is why we understand each other even while competing. At least as motivated as I am. That's how we're going to tackle the 55th Mecsek Rallye as well," notes Ádám Velenczei, a new father at the time.
