FIA decision: Mecsek is back in the Historic Eb calendar!

 At its December 16th meeting, the FIA ​​Motorsport Council (World Motor Sport Council) made a joyful decision expected by the Pécs and even the entire domestic rally fan base: the approved 2022 calendar of the Historic Rallye European Championship includes nine rounds from March to October. in the country - on June 23-25 ​​with the Mecsek Rallye.

In retrospect, we can tell you that the organizers of the Mecsek Rallye were very optimistic about this year's race calendar long before this announcement. What's more, already at the finish podium of the 54th race, it was considered a very favorable omen John Naylor as a kind of one-word quick assessment, he accompanied them with an OK with a friendly smile and a thumbs up to acknowledge the just ended competition. And even if we know that you praise the day with a receipt, the "OK" of the chairman of the FIA ​​Historic Motorsport Committee - who, by the way, was delegated to Pécs by the international body to evaluate and comment on whether we are worthy of continuing - is definitely a measure and a hope an empowering gesture in sports.

And on December 16, the race calendar became final, although the Pécs race was given a date one week later than originally planned (June 23 instead of June 16), but in the fierce international competition for director's rights, this should be the least...

Eight of the nine events with us were already included in the 2021 season, and the Swiss Rallye du Chablais replaces the Rallye International du Valais as a new element of the calendar.

This time the season starts in Spain: the Costa Brava Rally returns to its usual location in March, after being forced to move to the end of the season in November in 2021 due to the covid epidemic. Then, after the Moldavia in May and the Rallye Du Chablais in early June, Mecsek finally follows.

The summer also includes Weiz in Austria and Lahti in Finland, the only gravel races on the calendar. The Spanish Rallye de Asturias Historico opens the autumn, and the field moves to Italy for the last two rounds, after the Elba Storico, the Sanremo Rally Storico closes the line in October.
