Ranga Memory

The Hungarian champion László Ranga passed away 20 years ago, leaving behind a legacy that must be cherished! That is why Tibor Markó came up with the idea to summon the spirit of the champion to start the Ranga-Büki-Subaru trio again at the Mecsek Rallye. The crew, Péter Ranga and Ernő Büki, said yes to the performance without thinking, and Tibor Markó acquired a Subaru, which they dressed in the classic red-white-green "MOL" outfit.

Tibor Markó: "I am very happy that the plan has been implemented and that after 1997 the Ranga-Büki couple will start again at the Mecsek Rally. I think that we can remember this champion with dignity! Thank you to Dani Fischer and Boti Csányi, without them this plan could not have been realized!"
Péter Ranga: "Thank you very much to Tibi Markó, Dani Fischer and Boti Csányi for their help! It's a really heartwarming feeling for me, my family, and I hope for the viewers as well, to remember dad in this way. It will be an uplifting feeling to compete with Subaru and Ernő!"
Ernő Büki: "It is a huge honor that the Tibi people contacted me and invited me to the 54th Mecsek Rallye. I immediately and gladly said yes to the invitation, and I will be happy to fulfill the tasks. The car is reminiscent of the old days, it will feel good to sit in it again."
László Ranga was born and lived in Pécs, he started his rally career with Pécsi Volán. He is a six-time Hungarian champion, four of which he won under the guidance of Ernő Büki. He ended active racing in 1998 due to an incurable illness, but continued to work as a team leader for a while. László Ranga died on June 16, 2001.
