We say goodbye to Elemér Szalántzy
Elemér László Szalántzy, or as everyone in the rally industry knew him: Szasza, and as Ranga Laci called him: "little Dini", left us here forever on March 1st.
Szasza was born in Pécs on July 18, 1958. He had two children, Ágnes and Gergő, and four grandchildren: Sebastian, Bálint, Lili and Nilla. Szasza graduated in auto mechanics. Most of his life - in addition to his family - was occupied by cars, rally cars and assembly. He started his career at Volán as a car mechanic, then became the mechanic of the six-time Hungarian champion László Ranga in his workshop and at his competitions. Later, he worked in several car repair shops, and in addition, he strengthened the Autósziget Rally Team camp at the competitions.
Károly Farkas, the owner of Peugeot Autósziget, said goodbye to him as follows: "Our friend and colleague left for the eternal racing tracks.Elemér Szalántzy, or as he is known to all motorists and rally lovers throughout Hungary: Szasza. We were colleagues for many years. He was the undisputed master of chassis, he helped the competitors to many championships and he was always liked by our customers because of his perfect work. Excellent colleague, good friend, father, grandfather. A very good person who was loved, respected and recognized by everyone. Our lives will be emptier without him…. Sassy! Maybe Laci is setting up the chassis for his heavenly racing car..."
