Csomós Mixies are also to be reckoned with at the Mecsek Rallye!

Miklós Csomós and Attila Nagy won the Salgó Rally, their first ORB race victory. They haven't gone to the Mecsek yet with an R5 car. Their Skoda is an older development than their opponents, but they are still in the lead this year.

– We have a Skoda Fabia R5 developed in 2018, which can be said to be the oldest technology in the field, but we think that it is possible to win with it, I have always said this and now it has come true at the Salgó rally. I think that the car is very well prepared, set up, everything is there to win with it. So far, we only went with two-wheelers in Mecsek, Peugeot and Citroen. Basically, there are good experiences here, since we always won the championship title there in the small category, obviously because the Mecsek Rallye was usually towards the end of the year. Now that it's summer, the race will be easier than usual. It's a very good event, we're still looking forward to it.

How does it feel to be at a party with the "greats", to defeat Kopeczky?

- We are realizing our old dreams step by step. In the past it would have been a big deal to go with an R2, then when we raced with Citroen, we were really looking forward to trying a Peugeot 208 R2, it was also a huge step. Now this is also a big step forward, I think that we are building slowly and not jumping headlong into any nonsense. The car is set up very well, what could be a question mark is the track with this bigger car, realistically we didn't plan for this year to be at the top, according to the current situation we are in the fight for the championship, but it is not certain that this reality. We don't get involved in anything, we go at a normal pace, we don't want to fall on the other side of the horse. The goal is to score points. To beat Kopeczki? It's an incredible feeling. We were constantly just looking at what kind of races he starts and how well he holds up, obviously he is a world champion and he also developed the car. His words of appreciation at the end of the Salgó Rally were very nice, when he said that he couldn't keep pace with us, despite trying to stop the car, he tried to change his tire tactics, but he didn't succeed.

What is the password?

– We would like to work in the same way, apart from how many places we are in the league and what pressure we are under. We prepare in the same way as usual: we prepare from the internal recordings, we try to be the best possible both mentally and physically on the given weekend. Of course, there is the possibility of mistakes, a puncture or a fall into a ditch can happen at any time, this is a complex sport, but we are already looking forward to the Mecsek Rally, especially excited about Salgó. We'd love to see this come together once or twice more. And the Mecsek event has always been very good, so we're really looking forward to it.

Favorite Mecsek tracks?

– All tracks are great, they have a challenge, they are fast, I personally like Alsómocsolad, I have been there a few times and with the big car, I like Pécsvárad and Orfű too. And of course, the city and its surroundings are also known nationally for their beauty, we like it very much, we are happy to go there anytime.
