The 1st Therwoolin Boldogkő Rally brought a great battle - Gryazin won the race
World stars against domestic cool. This could have been the opening motto of the ORB, because in addition to Mads Ostberg and Jan Kopecky, who entered the 2021 Hungarian championship, Nikolay Gryazin also entered the competition. The question was whether the track experience of the Hungarian competitors is enough against the stars with immeasurable routines. After the first three sprints of the one-day race, Gryazin and Ostberg battled for the lead in the overall standings, with only 1.8 seconds between them. Kopecky was 16 seconds behind, followed by Hadik, Csomós and Turán. The seventh Velenczei was already half a minute away. Looking at the speed results, however, the picture was not so clear, two of the three were won by Hungarian competitors.
By the end of the second lap, Kopecky was no longer in the race, they had to stop on the stage before the fourth speed because of a differential fault. Nothing is decided between Ostberg and Gryazin, after the fifth stage Gryazin received a 10-second penalty, so Ostberg took the lead, but Gryazin took the lead back on the long sprint, the difference between them was 1.2 seconds, the third pair of Hadik-Kertész is almost half he was a minute behind. The Csomós-Nagy duo drove splendidly, they kept their lead before the fourth Tourán. Igaz Hadik was penalized 10 seconds, Turán 20 seconds. On the seventh speed, Ostberg took the lead, then on the eighth, the race seemed to be decided, because the Gryazins got a flat tire, and the Ostbergs' advantage increased to 15 seconds. Behind them were the Hungarians Hadik, Turán, Velenczei, Csomós, and the Hadiks were also 50 seconds behind Ostberg.
At the end came the drama. The Ostbergs had a flat tire, losing two minutes and falling back to fifth place. Gryazin won the last sprint, but received a 30-second penalty for slowing down, but this was enough to win the race with a 10.5-second advantage over the Hadik-Kertész duo. The third place went to Turán, but they were penalized for irregular tire use, they can keep their place in the race, but they did not score championship points. The people of Velencz fell over and thus were eliminated, so in the end the pair Csomós - Nagy became the fourth. In the RC4 category, the Hagodi - Bunkoczi duo won with a half-minute advantage over the juniors. In front of the Fekete – Begala pair, the Trencsényi – Szeged pair came third.
