In the Historic category, the duo of Tibor \u00c9rdi Jr. and Istv\u00e1n Ker\u00e9k have been undefeated on the tracks around P\u00e9cs for three years. Now they have made things a little more difficult, they will start the 58th Mecsek Rally with a completely new rear suspension.<\/strong><\/p>

You mentioned earlier that you are currently under a car, is this the car you are driving at the Mecsek Rally?<\/strong><\/p>

No, it's not that, I work in our car repair shop. But indeed, our race car is also being prepared in full swing.<\/p>

What should be on it?<\/strong><\/p>

The vintage has been open for two years in Historic, and accordingly we can carry out a few developments on the car. We will replace the complete rear suspension. In practice, we will first test it in real life at the Mecsek Rally, and then two weeks later at the Ypres Rallye in Belgium.<\/p>

This is a relatively big challenge\u2026or not so much?<\/strong><\/p>

Yes, it really is. This suspension is not always within reach, even if you have the financial means for it. We have had this rear suspension for almost a year now, but we were missing parts for it. We were able to buy these now, and the whole thing has now come together to install it in the car. We expect a small acceleration from this, and to improve our driving stability. This suspension is a real A-group Magnesium rear wishbone piece with the accompanying cradle, completely different characteristics can be set on it, and the weight reduction will also be significant.<\/p>

How much can you test before the Mecsek Rally?<\/strong><\/p>

As far as I know, the official test is on Friday, we want to do some testing before the race, and then we will test the new solution live in the race.<\/p>

What do you expect from yourself in the competition?<\/strong><\/p>

I don't really know. I always say that it's not that I don't have an opponent, but that the car practically stands out a little from the Historic field. Of course, as it stands out, it also wears out properly during each race, because it's a strong car. Once we start, we want to win, that's no secret. I'm curious to see who our opponents will be, whether they'll come, because we don't want to go for a walk. The Historic European Championship is two weeks later, which is a priority for us, so I don't want to get too much out of the car. I know the tracks of the Mecsek like crazy, I know where there are a lot of spectators, and we'll try to drive a little more spectacularly there.<\/p>

What do you think about the tracks?<\/strong><\/p>

I like them. My statistics here are pretty good, in the last three years when there was a European Championship, I won all three years in a row, including the European Championship, so I'm doing pretty well with the Mecsek Rally.<\/p>
