The refreshed management team threw themselves into the preparation of the new, now 54th Mecsek Rallye with great vigor. The program of this year's event was compiled using the experiences of the past years, the clear aim of which is to serve the competitors and spectators. The result was very tight, everyone will have the opportunity to choose and it is also certain that the Mecsek Rallye will once again open wide the gates of the City of P\u00e9cs on the last weekend of June. We talked with Tibor Mark\u00f3 about the details, additional programs and the reopening. <\/strong><\/p>

The work started out of the ordinary...<\/strong><\/p>

The major recent loss of the competition is the loss of Istv\u00e1n Jelen, the director who defined the past decades of the history of the Mecsek Rallye. For a significant part of the staff and contributors involved with the competition, the competition has always existed with Istv\u00e1n, from Istv\u00e1n, so this situation will be new to many of us. With the Pannon Vol\u00e1nos \"boys\" who are 50 years old this year (!), we are organizing a commemoration among Istv\u00e1n's friends, sports friends and good acquaintances in the days before the competition.<\/p>

How, how has the competition changed?<\/strong><\/p>

Last year was a forced break due to the pandemic. At the same time, it was possible to look back a little and analyze recent experiences. The organizing committee has been expanded with new members, but the dedication of the previous members has not changed either, they will continue to help the success of the competition. The preservation and revival of the Mecsek Rallye as a unique value and tradition was not a question for the city management and the management of PSN Zrt. Taking into account the conditions and opportunities that define our everyday lives, we have planned a compact competition that can serve both competitors and spectators, which offers the expected attractions and values \u200b\u200bto all concerned while taking care of each other's health. It was also an important aspect that P\u00e9cs is open! let's build the program in harmony with the campaign, and so that, in addition to the sports professional parts, additional programs also receive more emphasis.<\/p>

Like for example?<\/strong><\/p>

The goal was to create opportunities to bring sports, rallying and the feeling of rallying closer to people. \"Hardcore\" fans have no problem going to the speed stages in heat, frost, mud and dust to cheer on their favorites. The organizers of a race should have no other goal than to organize a full house, good mood and accident-free 'party', with this in mind, there will be no entrance fee this year either, all programs of the Mecsek Rallye can be visited for free this year as well. At the same time, we also thought of those 'hiding fans' who don't have the opportunity to cheer on the fast ones, we primarily targeted them with some of our innovations. One of the central locations of the event will be Sz\u00e9chenyi t\u00e9r, where, in addition to the start and finish ceremonies and award ceremony, a racing car exhibition entitled \"Eastern Stars of the Rally\" will be held during the race. The event awaits those interested for 2 days with real and working racing cars, which are still used by their owners for racing today and which forty years ago were a defining element of the rally sport in our region. This exhibition can take place for the first time here, at the Mecsek Rallye, thanks to our friends who exhibited the cars. In addition, we are also preparing another night racing car exhibition, because at the end of each race day, on Friday and Saturday evenings, in the heart of P\u00e9cs, in the new center parking lot - next to the \u00c1rk\u00e1d - we will gather the race starters with the express intention that P\u00e9cs' small and large and the city , the guests of the area can freely admire them up close. We are planning to implement several additional programs together with the city on Sz\u00e9chenyi Square, about which I can only tell you for now that they also require a stage...<\/p>

And what can we know about the competition program?<\/strong><\/p>

Renovation is a big trend in the gastro-revolution, so we jumped on this wave and partially rethought classics. The program begins with a tour of the track, and continues with the test on Thursday afternoon. In the evening, we welcome the competitors of the EHRC, that is, the Historic European Championship and the Mitropa Rally Cup, at a reception. On Friday, we are already operating at full speed, the task is to finish the acceptances in the morning, and then the competitors prepare to go on stage at the Expo Center, in the service park. From 5:00 p.m., the field of Historic cars and from 6:00 p.m. the representatives of the domestic rally championship will present themselves at the start ceremony on Sz\u00e9chenyi Square. The real race starts with a \"reimagined\" stage, the 18km P\u00e9csv\u00e1rad - Zob\u00e1kpuszta - Hossz\u00fahet\u00e9ny sprint, which EHRC+MRC+His OB will run on two occasions (18:00h, 19:35), while Rally1 and Rally1- ORC performs once (21:03) and already in the dark. We will set up viewing points in 3 places on the section to benefit the public: Zob\u00e1kpust\u00e1n, at the fork, and 2 places in Hossz\u00fahet\u00e9ny. Both will be easily and easily accessible, but the forest roads will not be open to visitors. The next day, Saturday, we can see our favorites 3 times each at 3 locations: the \u00c1rp\u00e1dtet\u00f3 \u2013 Remeter\u00e9t \u2013 Orf\u0171 13.60km section, also \u201crethought\u201d at 8:28 a.m., the Als\u00f3mocsol\u00e1d \u2013 Mecsekp\u00f6l\u00f6ske branch at 14.10km speed 9: The race starts at 40:00 and on the Zob\u00e1kpuszta - P\u00e9csv\u00e1rad track at 10:11. In the case of the first track, there will be designated viewing points on Lapis, Remeter\u00e9t and Orf\u0171 tet\u0151, in the case of the second at Kisvaszar, it will be worth visiting the fork, while the third section is not open to spectators due to its protection. We made sure to offer a sufficient amount of alternatives for all motorsport fans, so that they can cheer on their favorites together and in a good mood. I think we can do that with this program. On Saturday evening, we will greet the finishers again on Sz\u00e9chenyi Square and award the best ones. Don't forget that in addition to the international Historic field, the cr\u00e8me de la cr\u00e8me of domestic rallying will be here again, so there will certainly be no shortage of sights and experiences.<\/p>

You mentioned that you are also launching the \"Z\u00f6ld Mecsek Rallye\" program. What exactly does this entail?<\/strong><\/p>

Environmental protection and sustainability are increasingly emphasized in all areas of our everyday lives. In traffic and in some branches of motorsport, displacement is increasingly possible, which is also an important issue for us. With the express support of Mayor Attila P\u00e9terffy, we have organized a fleet of street electric cars that will make a presentation at the competition. Also as a novelty, at the initiative of local competitors, we are organizing tree planting as a tradition-creating step, at which a group of competitors who have entered the competition will be put to work, with a plan to fulfill a long-term goal. We will provide detailed information on these movements later.<\/p>

There will also be a premiere at the 54th Mecsek Rallye...<\/strong><\/p>

We were very happy when Robi B\u00fator contacted us to say that he would like to debut his new \"toy\" that has never been seen in our country, and that he is also preparing to go on a joyride. I think this B\u00fator-Tagai-WRC combo will also be a colorful spot in this year's competition.<\/p>

Even if it is not a premiere, a gesture that is very important to me can be realized at this year's competition. In the days before the event, it will be 20 years since L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Ranga, the dominant figure of P\u00e9cs and domestic motorsport, passed away. I contacted Ranga Laci and Petit and Ern\u0151 B\u00fcki with a special idea, as a result of which, after many, many years, the trio of Ranga \u2013 B\u00fcki \u2013 Subaru Imprezza will once again be at the Mecsek Rallye. Dani Fischer joined the project without thinking, we can thank him for the car, which we dress up according to its order and manner.<\/p>

Where can we find information about the competition? What is the director preparing for Covid-19?<\/strong><\/p>

This is clearly an authentic source of information about the competition. It is a priority task that puts a lot of extra burden on all of us. We have the Covid Protocol approved by the FIA, which summarizes the necessary measures. We constantly monitor the Covid situation and share the current information with interested parties on the mecsekrallye.com page. Today, more than a month before the competition, the current regulations allow adults and children with a protection card to visit sports events. We hope that this situation will only continue to improve.<\/p>

I'm starting to get the feeling that this Mecsek Rallye will be more of a Rallye Festival.<\/strong><\/p>
