The rainless weather and the first heat wave of the year dried up the avar layer of the forests and the risk of crown fires increased significantly, and there was an increased risk of fire in the forests across the country. As of Thursday (06.24), the national fire ban came into effect. The National Food Chain Safety Office (N\u00e9bih) draws the public's attention to be extra careful, as 99 percent of forest fires in Hungary are caused by human error.<\/p>

The rainless weather and the first heat wave of the year dried out the avar layer of the forests, which can lead to the formation of surprisingly fast-spreading surface fires and the development of crown fires within minutes. Thousands of tons of forest biomass can catch fire, green areas of our environment can turn into black, sooty tree trunks and white ash.<\/p>

During the fire ban, it is forbidden to light fires in the forests and wooded areas located on the outlying properties, as well as in the 200-meter radius of them, also in the designated, constructed fire pits.<\/p>

Please do not throw cigarette butts anywhere, use the ashtray. Small burning embers from cigarette butts thought to be extinguished are responsible for the destruction of many forests.<\/p>
