Gábor Hullmann – Barnabás Szegő (Lada VFTS)

The Hullmann-Szegő duo wants to repeat their Veszprém performance in Pécs, aiming for the ORC podium. To that end, they are taking the car and the tracks apart. The former in the workshop, the latter in their minds.

How do you prepare for the 58th Mecsek Rally?

The car is currently undergoing a major overhaul because the gravel in Veszprém has taken a toll on it. The car's suspension is damaged, so we're repairing it, and I'm trying to relive the tracks in my mind and make the settings based on that.

When was the last time you visited the tracks in Mecsek?

I was at the Mecsek Rally last year, this will probably be my third or fourth year participating.

How much do you like these tracks?

I liked these courses anyway, and this year's competition schedule is very nice. Now we don't have to go all night, we don't have to get up too early, the courses are good, the organization is very competitor-friendly. From what I saw, the weather will be good too.

What do you expect from yourself?

I think the field at the Mecsek Rally will be very serious and our category will be crowded. We definitely want to be on the podium.

Do you have any special mascots, rituals, or special preparations that you stick to before competitions?

Not really. I prepare the car with a colleague, we take it apart and then put it back together. We try to prepare thoroughly, but in technical sports everything is included.

How much testing do you do before the competition?

Unfortunately, we can't test because our schedule is quite tight this year. I'm hoping for a good performance. I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for the race in advance, it's not easy to go from work to the race the next day.
