Ferenc Kiss/jr. Ferenc Kiss, Ferenc Wirtmann/József Kerekes and Ariel Gyarmati/György Kocsis also won their respective groups in the first race of the 2021 Mitropa Cup at the Velenje Rally.

The German duo Dominik Dinkel - Pirmin Winklhofer won the absolute evaluation of the Slovenian race with more than a minute advantage over the Slovenian duo Rok Turk and Viljem Oslaj. Ferenc Kiss, whose son navigated again, was only 2.2 slower than the Slovenian duo competing on the home track with the Volkswagen Polo GTi R5 prepared by Korda Racing.

Gyarmati Ariel - György Kocsis with the R4 Mitsubishi finished in absolute seventh place and won their category with an advantage of more than 2 minutes.

The Ferenc Wirtmanns finished in absolute 43rd place, which not only won the Mitropa Historic category, but also outpaced many more modern racing cars with the old Ford Escort RS 2000 MKII, which is still very fast, as the result shows.
