Interview with Péter Ranga:

This year too, my brother and I decided to go with the R5 as much as possible, approx. in the same races as last year. I go on the gravel, Laci on the asphalt races. We took our preparation very seriously at the beginning of the year. Having restored the car, we waited for the first race, Rally Hungary. Compared to the slightly older technology, we did well here, the result was encouraging, but unfortunately we jumped a little bigger than necessary at a big jump and the radiator grille was pressed in, the cooling water leaked and we had to give up the race. We were very worried that the engine might not have been damaged, but we went to one or two test races and luckily everything was fine there.

Only two weeks ago, it was decided that I would compete in the Mecse, because Laci thought that with her current family commitments, she would not be able to really prepare one hundred percent for this competition, where hopefully a very strong field will come together again. Orfűi is my favorite track, I love it anytime, any way, in any direction. Although now according to the primary information, you can count on more slowdowns, but this is perhaps completely understandable considering the unfortunate event that happened at the season opener. Safety is really the most important thing and we should be happy that the races and the classic courses can be held. Of course, we are really looking forward to next weekend, when the domestic competition will finally start! This is very special because Apa's nimbus still surrounds the competition so much. There is still a lot of love from the fans towards him and therefore also towards us, and it is very good that there is always some activity that also keeps his memory alive: whether it is cars running in his old colors or the director almost always has an idea related to it , for example, when we could drive such a car with Ernő Büki as a runner-up, or for the part of the city, the road named after him and much more. That is why it is very important to always prepare for the competition as conscientiously as possible. And of course, it is also a very good and comfortable thing that we sleep in our own bed during this competition, we are also at home on the days of the competition.
