The program of the 57th Mecsek Rally ended successfully

After Friday's program, which was strongly inclined towards the evening, the EHRC 47 and 29 pairs evaluated in the Historic OB started at 08:50 on Saturday morning at Golgota-Hetvehely. Then, almost an hour apart, ORB, ORC's group of 59 cars took possession of the area.

The people of Érdi didn't leave it to chance, after yesterday's experience, the servicemen were ready with five axles in the morning, that's for sure. Similarly, Zippo saw his greatest enemy in the half-axle, which could have made his goal for the day more difficult: he was about to cut down his 01:03.9 deficit compared to Tibi. He was able to make up time in the second stage with a stage victory, the preparation of the car the night before went well, while Érdi had another problem, but they could be satisfied, because they were still able to increase their advantage.

Jr. Érdi: "Even the service car of our opponent broke down, but we were able to help him, which we are proud of. We also help if there is a problem, we also compete, the atmosphere between us is good, everything is great!"

Érdi, Zippo, and Varga took the lead, the Wirtmanns finished sixth overall, while the Magosses were ninth.

The second round ended with a decisive victory for the Érdis, who did what was required, leaving their opponents behind with a difference of 4.11.9. Zippo's turbo exploded on the longest stretch, which definitively sealed their fate. Although they stumbled, they reached the finish line and were able to stand on the second step of the Historic EB podium, with huge disappointment. The third best in the evaluation was Ernie Graham with the E30 BMW.

In the non-EC evaluation of the Historic field, after Érdi, the Vargás came in second with a 02:15.9 disadvantage, while the Wirtmanns took the third place on the list and climbed onto the usual Széchenyi Square finish podium, but strictly only after the UFA Euro 2024 Hungary-Switzerland match had ended. .

Zippo: “I'm lucky to finish and get the European Championship points, but the stars just didn't align for me today. It takes a lot to win and unfortunately things didn't come together today. I like racing here, it feels close to home and I like the stages. I hope the next time I come back I can take home the win.”

In the ORB his field did not really find their place in the first stage, even though no one lacked determination, but then everyone gathered themselves to get what they could out of the second day. After the first round, it was still Mixi Csomós who those who came after them still wanted to catch. Gábor Német was 0.4.9 behind him, and Velenczei was only 0.2.9 away from him, so the boys left excitement for the last laps. Next in line was Robi Bútor, who started at the Mecse for the first time exactly 30 years ago, and felt that his performance today was significantly better compared to yesterday with the Citroen WRC. Frici Turán tried a harder compound tire for today's opener, but was unsuccessful:

“We tried to go well, but we just can't get the grip out of this mixture. I'm disappointed, but there's one more round."

András Hadik came mainly for points, which he achieved, as he led the Cup. The Rangas also finally found their way and did not get much from the leading group, although Hadik had already gained an unassailable advantage, but they still had a chance to keep the pace with Klauszé to the end.

In the ORC evaluation, Róbert Bútor, Attila Rongits, Zsolt Marozsi, and Ferenc Bodogán turned to the finish line in order.

In the last race of the ORB, the Germans, who were still mathematically in the first place, got out of the game, they fell a little before the penultimate fast end, so the attack attempt really only remained an attempt, and in the end they left the competition without a point. Of course, this also changed the order. Mixi Csomós remained in the lead, Ádám Velenczei was only 05.3 behind him. Then Frici Turán came third, followed by Péter Ranga, András Hadik and Kristóf Klausz. Furniture has not been evaluated.

Velenczei: "We were just a little behind at the end, I feel that Mixi pulled with his pace, I'm sure that this will matter a lot in the future. Second place in this serious field is very good!"

Péter Ranga: I still don't know where to put the result, but basically the fourth place is not so bad. I think the tracks are sensational, it seems that the Tibi's worked a lot on potholes, maybe the retarder was a bit much, which was definitely necessary due to the FIA, but it was a very good race!

The order of the Mitropa Cup winners was Hadik, Klausz, Bodolai, while Norbert Czékmány won the Peugeot Cup. In ORC, Attila Rongits took the lead, followed by Zsolt Marozsi in the Hyundai. The pair of Bodogán-Dudás finished as the best drivers, who also returned home from the 57th Mecsek Rallye as the best in the ORC, 2wd.
