After a heroic struggle, 'Zippo' won the Vltava Rallye

The 29th Historic Vltava Rally was held in the Czech Republic between May 7 and 9, after which the Historic European Championship field will arrive at the Mecsek Rally between June 25 and 27. The second day of the Czech race brought intense hair, the Italian 'Zippo' and Denis Piceno, competing with Audi quattro, went head-to-head with Karl Wagner and Gerda Zauner, who started with Porsche 911 SC.

On the first few stages, Wagner led relatively confidently, on the sixth stage he had an advantage of 6 seconds. Then 'Zippo' won two stages, to which Wagner was able to respond, with three stages before the end of the race, the German went to the service park with a lead of 29 seconds.

Audi was able to get closer to its opponent on the tenth fast lap, and in the end the end game was extremely close, 'Zippo' won the overall with a difference of 4.5 seconds.

In the second category, Anders and Ingrid Johnsen won with the No. 9 Porsche 911 RS ahead of Vojtech Stajf and Vladimir Zelinka competing with the Opel Kadett, the Czech duo was only 2.2 seconds slower than the Porsche at the final speed.

Daniel Alonso and his navigator, Candido Carrera, behind the wheel of the Ford Sierra Cosworth, finished fifth overall, and first in the category of four. The Spanish duo beat the Australian Alfons Nothdurfter and his German teammate Jurgen Nolt, also racing with a Ford Sierra Cosworth, by 1 minute 41.9 seconds.

Antonio Parisi and Giuseppe D'Angelo, who started with a Porsche 911 S, took 15th place overall and finished first in their category in the Czech Republic.

Only one Hungarian couple took part in the competition, László Mekler and Edit Mikó Meklerné competed with the well-known Alfa Romeo 1750 GTAm. They finished in 23rd place overall, fourth in the C3 category.

The Mecsek Rally will host the third round of the FIA ​​Historic European Championship between June 25 and 27.
