Away game: deep water, in a foreign discipline (2nd) - Gábor Wéber starts the Mecsek Rallye!

Two excellent track racers also pay their respects in the field - more precisely in front of him. The names of Norbert Kiss and Gábor Wéber are respected by all motorsport fans, they are excellent drivers and sportsmen, and they have already proven their talent in several cup series. The competition's sports professional leader, Tibor Markó, approached the two star drivers with a special idea based on their two-decade acquaintance: what if they tried their hand at a new discipline. Also on the asphalt, but beyond the fence of the built tracks, between the rallies! And if you're going to be a goose, be fat! Thanks to another friendly relationship, Gábor Jagadics, and because GR Motorsport was receptive to the idea and helped make it a reality, this time they can turn the wheel of a slightly angry Toyota Yaris GR; as a rally warm-up for the time being unfortunately "only" as a control car driver - but who knows what the sequel will bring... In second place is the two-time Renault Clio Cup winner at home, outstandingly successful on the international stage as well, SRMSC world champion, SEAT León Eurocup winner, touring car WC - we asked Gábor Wéber, who is starting, what this trip to Mecsek means to him.

An experience, a pleasure, a reward game in front of an audience, but not bloody. Rally simulation with restrained foam", the former Clio media champion pours out the epithets almost without thinking. "I've always loved asphalt and mountain races, and I've always flirted with rallying, if only in my mind. Pécs, Orfű, Mecsek are dear to my heart. I have been able to ride in very fast racing cars many times on the track and on the mountain, but the rally is a new world unknown to me! Looking for more pleasant reasons, I couldn't gather any more that could guarantee an exciting and joyful weekend, so I didn't think for a minute before I said yes to Tibi Markó's invitation," he gathers more and more arguments in a bouquet.
And then we haven't even talked about the fact that they can show the way to the entire field not with some kind of shopping car, but with a special Yaris GR. With 270 horsepower, four-wheel drive, 5-second acceleration - i.e. real racing genes optimized for the street.
"I haven't driven it yet, but since it's been around, I've been dying to try it. In addition, professional navigators will be sitting next to us (Viktor Bán next to me), so everything is there to experience the real racing atmosphere. In addition, with the previously unknown feeling that neither the other cars nor the clock are opponents, i.e. unencumbered, truly enjoyable driving. It's true, I've never written an itinerary before in my life, so mine will definitely not be too colorful. Anyway, I consider myself a fast learner, so I'm only going to write down the most important points. By the way, although I have all the respect for fellow drivers, especially the one who dares to sit next to me😊, as a track driver I have no practice in listening to others while driving; I think that in a doubtful situation, I will be guided by my own eyes as a reflex, rather than the itiner", he states in an interesting parallel, what a sprinter and a rally driver are also paying attention to in the middle of the corner combinations.
After driving Renault Clios and SEAT Leóns to countless victories, Wéber is now switching to the Yaris, a small car of similar size, but also biting. Gábor adds by way of farewell that the car is still a challenge for him, because if everything goes well, one day even another domestic cup series could be formed from them. And he particularly likes the cups fought with such "straight cars", as a competitor or even just as a test driver, as he had a taste of the development of Suzuki Cup cars.
