Patrik Herczig and Viktor Bán missed the Salgó Rally, but they will be on the podium at the 54th Mecsek Rallye. The Ford Fiesta Rally4 is ready, and the duo is motivated and waiting for the fourth round of the championship. 

"I have never competed at the Mecsek. I missed this race last year, but I am looking forward to the weekend in many ways. Unfortunately, the layoff was long, so it will be good to get back in the car, but I am also looking forward to the race because I have been to the Mecsek Rallye many times as a spectator. Even when my father was competing at home, and even after that, we came to watch the competition, and we always liked it very much" – mondta Herczig Patrik.

At the Mecsek Rallye, 10 stages have to be completed, the total length of which is 137 kilometers, and the total distance of the race will be 506 kilometers. Although Patrik Herczig has not yet competed in the Mecsek Rallye, he knows their speeds not only from video recordings.

"Father had already taken me through the speedway before, and when we decided that I was going to rally, we came to Baranya and practiced writing itineraries here. I especially like the Árpádtetó speedway, it's a great track. Pécs is also very beautiful, Viktor lives here, so it's also somewhat of a home track for us. Lake Orfűi is also beautiful, Mecsek is also wonderful, so all in all I'm really looking forward to the competition" - said Patrik, who also said that after more than a month's absence, they are preparing for the competition with a test.

“The car is being prepared for Wednesday's test. We will practice where we tested at the beginning of the year. The test is also important because I need to be confident again after the Eger-Ózd Rally. I'm not worried about it, but it will definitely take a few kilometers to pick up the rhythm."

The heat is raging in the week before the race, and according to the current forecast, it will be the same on Friday and Saturday. Although Patrik Herczig is becoming more and more friendly with the rain, he doesn't mind getting to know the Mecsek on dry asphalt.

“It looks like it will be dry conditions and I'm happy about that right now. I want a clean, calm race, where the most important thing will be to reach the finish line again. We will start in the dark on Friday, I hope everything will be fine now with the lights and we will be able to drive at night undisturbed. The heat could be a big challenge on Saturday, but I'm not worried about that. I've always been able to handle the heat well, it doesn't bother me, it's the cold that torments me more, because I don't like being cold" Patrik revealed.

The RC4 category, as always, will be hellishly strong, but at last year's Rally Hungary the competitors of Herczig Autósport already showed that they are capable of winning. The primary goal now will be to gather experience and stand on the finish podium, but if everything goes well, the pair may even cause another surprise at the Mecsek Rallye.
