The list leader comes to Pécs to win

They slipped from first place in the previous two competitions, but the pair of András Hadik and Krisztián Kertész are currently in first place overall. They love the tracks in Mecsek, Pécs and the Mecsek Rally. We talked to András Hadik.

How do you like the tracks, which one will be your favorite?

We expect a very good competition this year. It should be known that we are from Miskolc, and we need the mountains and mountain roads for the rally. If speed stages are organized anywhere in the Pécs area, they are all good and exciting. Each course is a favorite, but if I had to choose, I would say Pécsvárad. I like narrow, narrow, technical roads.

How much do you like Pécs, the atmosphere of the city, Mecsek?

We really like the city itself, the downtown area, we like the pedestrian street, the atmosphere of the city, the fans who populate the main square.

What is the goal?

In the last two races, we slipped from the first place, now we want to grind out this flaw a little, we will try to prepare as much as possible and I hope that we will achieve a good result. Our goal is first place, but we'll see what this thing produces. I think that here in the Hungarian league you can't be very tactical anymore, you have to pick up the rhythm from the first minute and react quickly.

What's it like to come back after covid?

The covid had a bit of a say in this year, the first competition was postponed, so the competitions follow each other very closely, 3-3 weeks apart, so there is no time for anything else, we only deal with this. We are happy that life has returned to normal, you could see in the previous two races that wherever there were fans, there were a lot of them, Pécs is one of the rally centers in Hungary, there are always a lot of fans here, we hope it will be the same now.

Can you compete with foreign competitors... what's it like to go against them?

Ostberg did not start in the previous race, he went to the World Cup, I don't know if he will be here at the Mecsek Rally. Basically, it is good that these drivers add color to the Hungarian Championship, they are still world champions and compete in World Cup races, it is very good to compete with them. In the previous two races, we were already partying with them, the race was over on our choice of tires. We beat Kopeczky, but let's be realistic, in the opposite situation - if we were in his country - he would beat us much easier. This is the advantage of the home track, it is difficult to compete with the locals, they have a difficult time, in the opposite situation I don't think we would be able to compete with them.
