Rally1 statements at the end of the first lap

június 26, 2021

Mads Ostberg-Torstein Eriksen (Citroen C3 Rally2): So far the race has been pretty good, I like the speed stages, I really enjoyed it. It was unpredictable what the track would be like because of yesterday’s rain, but it was much easier compared to yesterday because of the good weather.

Gzregorz Grzyb-Kamil Kozdron (Skoda Fabia Rally2 EVO): We were a little surprised that the first stage was so slippery, we lost a lot of time because of it. I was hoping that we would achieve a good result in Árpádtető, because I know the fast anyway. We try to go faster, but it’s hard to follow Mads because his car is stronger. We will try to make fewer mistakes and go faster on the next fast, we hope we succeed!

Ollé Sasa- Ollé Rebeka (Skoda Fabia R5): We really don’t know what happened! We had a very good time on Árpádtető, we enjoyed the fast, but we demolished a retarder. Maybe we hit the car there because after that we couldn’t stay on the road at all. We slipped off the road, spun, everything was there! At the quick end, we stood aside, looked around the car and decided to finish the race before it was totally damaging. We will continue in Veszprém with renewed vigor!

András Hadik-Krisztián Kertész (Ford Fiesta R5 MKII): I’m basically satisfied, although I set the last two fast in the car, which didn’t come in. But no problem with that, we will reset it now at the service and it will be fine the next round. At the end of the first quick, the road was still a bit wet, there we almost went to the strip barrier, but besides that we had no adventure.

László Frigyes-Bagaméri Turán (Volkswagen Polo R5): We started the day well, although we took a bit of a risk by choosing a tire. We chose the hard mix, which was good for Árpádtető, but we were at a disadvantage in the second or third place. The tracks remained very dirty, the grip changed and we couldn’t keep the hard tire temperature. We don’t get very much from the others, but we have a lot of downsides to getting it done easily. We are not desperate, but we are trying to change and accelerate.

Ádám Velenczei – Igor Bacigal (Skoda Fabia R5 EVO): The first quick disaster was, we took a retarder with us for a while. There was such a rubber smell inside the car, we couldn’t imagine what it was. We got a lot, then we tried to gather ourselves, we only partially succeeded.

István Gergő-Kerék Szauer (Peugeot 208 Rally4): The most important thing at the beginning of today was to keep our advantage of yesterday. and reach our destination. Let’s see what state the fast ones are in, what conditions prevail. That was the team-level expectation! I don’t want to accelerate at all costs in the next lap either, I want to drive at my own pace.

ifj. Ranga László-Buda Annamária (Peugeot 208 Rally4): The first lap was exciting! The pace is very high, the track is slippery, a good match has developed! We don’t do very well with tires, but we trust the best!

Róbert Bútor-Róbert Tagai (Citroen C3 WRC): Our racing is still adventurous! Compared to how calmly I drove the Skoda, now it’s the car that takes me rather than me. It’s a great experience to drive, but I’m not going the way I should. We slide a lot for no reason, we need to change, refine to get more grip. The car is a dizzying experience anyway, but its settings aren’t ideal.
