We say goodbye to Elemér Szalántzy

június 16, 2021

Elemér Szalántzy, that is, as everyone knew in the rally profession: Szasza, and as Laszlo Ranga called it: “little Dini” left us here forever on March 1.

Szasza was born in Pécs on July 18, 1958. He had two children, Ágnes and Gergő and four grandchildren: Sebastian, Bálint, Lili and Nilla. Szasza graduated as a car mechanic. In addition to his family, he spent most of his life in cars, rally cars, and assembly. He started his career at Volán as a car mechanic, then became the mechanic of László Ranga the six-time Hungarian champion in his workshop and competitions. He later worked in several car repair shops, and also strengthened the Car Island Rally Team camp at the races.

Károly Farkas, the owner of the Peugeot Car Island, said goodbye to him: “Our friend and colleague left for the eternal racetracks. Elemér Szalántzy, or as any car or rally friend knows in Hungary: Szasza. We have had a colleague for many years. He was the undisputed master of running gear, helped the riders for a lot of championship titles and was always liked by our clients for his perfect work. Excellent co-worker, good friend, father, grandfather. A very good person that everyone loved, respected, recognized. Our life will be empty without him …. Szasza! Maybe he’s already setting up his chassis for Laci’s celestial race car… ”
